Northampton, PA. . . . . NASCAR Modified Driver Eric Beers finished the month of July with a win on Saturday night July 29th at the 1/4 mile Mahoning Valley Speedway, Lehighton, PA. The win is Eric's 9th of the season and his second at Mahoning.
On July 29th, Beers Motorsports and the Beers Horwith Racing team went to Mahoning Valley Speedway, Lehighton, PA, to compete in local Saturday night short track action. On this night Eric demonstrated what short track racing is all about. After winning his heat race, Eric started the feature in the 12th position. The first several laps had the top six rows of Modifieds racing side by side, nose to tail. After several early cautions Eric had made his way up to seventh. At this point he still had to wait to make his move as the racing in front of him was side by side. Finally, a hole opened up and Eric took the #94 to the outside groove and made his way up to the second position. This is when "sparks began to fly," Eric now had to battle with pole Sitter Glenn Correll. With double file restarts Eric and Glenn were side by side. A great, clean, exciting battle ensued, because of yellow flags either on the start or after one lap these two restarted 4 times. As they would enter into turn two the fans could see sparks flying from the rubbing as these two were holding their position. Finally, on a single file restart Eric used the inside groove to gain the position necessary to capture the lead and hold on. Flemington Speedway hosted the Penn Jersey Modified Series on July 22nd. Eric held on to finish 6th with a blistering right rear tire. Adam Horwith had a great run to finish 9th after starting 22nd.
Nazareth Speedway hosted the NASCAR Featherlite Modified Tour on July 15th and 16th. Eric had the Kocher Motorsports Modified going at top speed when a tire went out in practice resulting in a hard crash on the back stretch. With the car held together literally with duct tape and rivets Eric qualified 25th and finished a respectable 20th with a car the crew worked very hard to get straight.
On July 8th it was back to Mahoning Valley Speedway where an early race incident relegated the Wynn's, K-CEE Distributing, Brown Daub, Hoosier Tire, Horwith Frieghtliner to the teams first DNF.
Eric Started the month of July with a win at Mahoning Valley Speedway on July 4th in the Penn Jersey Modified Series 50 Lap event. Eric had to hold off hard charging Steve Whitt who had to come back from the rear of the field.
