MARS Series "Budweiser 100" highlights Sunday at Elko

Pendleton, Ind. (August 27, 2003) -- This coming Labor Day weekend is packed with exciting oval track racing action at Elko Speedway. Among the highlights of events is the Sunday, August 31, Budweiser 100 set for 9 p.m. The 100-lap Midwest All-Star Racing Series event will showcase some of the top regional drivers from Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan and Illinois.

College City Beverage of Northfield, Minn. has brought the Budweiser brand name to the MARS event. College City is the primary vendor at Elko Speedway and is sponsoring the event.

Jeff Van Oudenhoven of Kimberly, Wis., currently leads the point standings with Jamie Iverson of Michigan, Jeff Storm, Ryan Mathews and Gordie Sannes Jr. rounding out the top five. 2003 event winners include Terry Baldry, Van Oudenhoven, Iverson, Paul Menard and Steve Carlson.

The Wisconsin-based series currently has 12 dates on its 2003 schedule with appearances at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna, Norway Raceway in Michigan, The Milwaukee Mile in West Allis, Wis., and Minnesota tracks I-94 and Elko.

On Sunday at Elko, MARS and ASA begin practice starting at 11:30 a.m. ASA will set the field for the 400-lap event on Monday with pole qualifying at 4:30 p.m. with MARS qualifying taking place at 6. The Impact Racing ASA National Pit Stop Challenge presented by BFGoodrich Tires and SK Hand Tool rolls off at 7:30 with the Budweiser 100 going green at 9. On Monday, ASA's on-track fan autograph session and live musical entertainment are scheduled for noon with pre-race ceremonies set for noon. The Greased Lightning Orange Blast 400 goes green at 1:30 p.m. (Local).

Tickets for the Greased Lightning Orange Blast 400 at Elko are $25 each in advance and $30 on race day. Children 12 years old and younger are admitted free with a paying adult. Tickets on Sunday for the Budweiser 100 and ASA pole qualifying are $12 in advance and $15 on race day. If tickets are purchased for both days, the price is $35 for admission.
