GIBSONTON, FL - It was a busy night Saturday at East Bay Raceway with seven features on tap as Forrest Gough, Ike Walker, Tim George, Roland Johnson, Mike Smith, Don Gansner and Bobby Alexander were standing in victory lane.
Gough won the 15 lap limited late model make-up main over Roger Crouse. Carl Polk was third over John Norris and Tim Gay. Walker nabbed his first win of 1998 in the regular main as he fought off Gough, Johnny Parker, Danny Bowman and Duffy Smith.
Tim George won his first of the year in the limited sprint car feature as he ran a race long battle with Dave Retzlaff who held off Donnie Maxwell for second, with Andy Kelly fourth and Johnny Gilbertson Fifth. Former champ Roland Johnson won his first Florida Outlaw Sprint feature of the year as he showed his experience by out running two of East Bay’s fastest young guns. Six-time winner Gilbertson ran side by side with Johnson for several laps but had to settle for second ahead of 16 year old Greg Leonard who earned third ahead of Ernie Teed and Sport Allen. Heat wins to Brady Alvis and Paulie Milum.
Mike Smith won his ninth mini-stock main and his third in a row as he outran the field from the drop of the green. William Hampton edged Dorsey Strickland for second, followed by Rick Partridge, Scotty Williams and Don Day. Don Gansner won his sixth street stock main of the year over Danny McCall and Mike Langshaw. Steve Burch and Mike Kessel rounded out the top five.
The closest race of the night was in the 25 lap late model main as Bobby Alexander fought off three Nosbisch brothers for the first 20 laps. Donnie Tanner got into the battle to take fourth from Ken Nosbisch while Jack Nosbisch, Jr. ended up second ahead of his brother Keith who took third. -30- East Bay King of 360 Winternationals Set
