From Marie Osborn: PORTLAND, Mich. -- Dustin Daggett retained his Sprints on Dirt point lead after finishing second Saturday at the Merritt Speedway in Merritt, Michigan. Daggett drove the family-owned Daggett Racing Maxim Chassis powered by Dowker Engines to a heat race victory and led 22 of the 30 laps in the feature event before finishing in the second position.

"The lapped traffic did not go my way this time", said Daggett. "Merritt is one of our favorite tracks, and the car was real nice."

This week Daggett heads across the border for two Sprints on Dirt point events in Canada. Friday night at the Oshweken Speedway, Daggett will try to win his second feature during the 2004 season. Last year at Oshweken, Daggett flipped during his heat race event and had to run a backup car. Daggett started at the back of both the B and A features to salvage a 4th place finish.

Saturday night SOD heads down the road to the South Buxton International Raceway in South Buxton, Ontario. In two appearances at South Buxton, Daggett has finished second and first place respectively.
