SUSSEX, Wis. (February 14, 2001) -- Mark Dismore, Jr. enters the 2001 ASA ACDelco Series with added enthusiasm and confidence, after recently acquiring a new sponsor, WOWemployers.com, and testing well at the facility which will host the season opener this weekend.
The ASARacing.com 300 is scheduled for Saturday evening from the St. Augustine Speedway, a half-mile race track set to give the ASA competitors a real challenge. Dismore, Jr. is set to start his second full season in stock cars after years of racing in open wheel vehicles, following the same path as his father, Indy Racing Northern Lights Series driver Mark Dismore.
After a challenging rookie season in the ASA Series, Dismore, Jr. is ready to "wow" the field and be a constant challenger, beginning at this weekend's event. "I'm looking forward to starting the 2001 ASA season," Dismore, Jr. said. "Starting with a clean slate and with a new sponsor, WOWemployers.com, we can show everyone how capable we are of performing well. This is going to be a great year for the No. 22 Herzog Motorsports team. We want to be consistent top-10 finishers and even pick up some wins. That's what our goal is for 2001."
While looking at the 2001 season is of greater perspective, Dismore narrows his focus to St. Augustine Speedway. "We recently tested at the track and I felt really comfortable in the car," stated Dismore. "My teammate, Toby Porter, has raced at the track before so I had the benefit of knowing the line to drive. The Herzog Motorsports Chevrolet Monte Carlos were fast right off the truck and we'll definitely benefit from the practice we had at the track. We expect to be in contention all night and it would be awesome to start 2001 with my first ASA win."
Herzog Motorsports is a successful, championship-winning race team. Based in Charlotte, N.C., Milwaukee, Wis. and St. Joseph, Mo., Herzog Motorsports fields teams in the American Speed Association and NASCAR Busch Series, with support from WOWemployers.com and Excedrin. The No. 22 WOWemployers.com Chevrolet is set to debut at the St. Augustine Speedway Saturday evening. The ASARacing.com 300 begins at 9:00 p.m. EST, with live televised coverage from TNN.
