SUSSEX, Wis. (March 15, 2001) -- Next weekend, Mark Dismore, Jr. will return to the site of his first career American Speed Association (ASA) start. One year ago, Dismore, Jr. made his stock car racing debut in the 2000 ASA season opener at the USA International Speedway in Lakeland, Fla. One year and 22 races later, Dismore, Jr. returns to the track, with intentions of scoring the victory.
"We're going to go win," says the confident Dismore, Jr. "The WOWemployers.com Chevrolet is too good of a car not to win the race. We tested well at the track and we ran well last year for it being my first race. The WOWemployers.com team is very positive we can pull this thing (win) off."
The year in between the two Lakeland events has been a wild ride for Dismore, Jr. and the Herzog Motorsports team. They finished 12th in the event last year, while battling for the heavily contested rookie of the year title. 2001 has seen a complete turn around, with Dismore, Jr. scoring two top-10 finishes in the first two ASA events. The team also currently rides fifth in the series' point standings.
"Last year at Lakeland, we were on our way to a possible top-five finish, but I got tangled up racing with another car and lost a lot of positions," continues Dismore, Jr. "I could blame it on lack of experience last year, but this time there won't be any excuses. We're off to a great start this year and I want it to continue. I'd like to leave Lakeland with us in the top-three in points."
The No. 22 WOWemployers.com Chevrolet takes to the USA International Speedway on Saturday, March 24. Live television coverage of the Florida 200 will begin at 9:00 p.m. EST on TNN, The National Network.
