BENTON, Mo. -- (May 27, 2002) Kenny Harris of Desloge drove his #52 Mini Stock truck to victory Monday afternoon at Auto Tire & Parts Racepark. Harris caught and passed Jathon Cruse on the final lap and then hung on for the victory, snapping Cruse's 12-race winning streak.
The weekend was far from a loss by Cruse though as he was the overall champion of the RAMS Mini Stock class in the two-part Spring Spectacular. The first part was raced at the Fredericktown Raceway on May 15.
Third place in the feature went to Bruce Boren of Farmington while Marty Boyer of Potosi was fourth and Shannon Burch of Farmington was fifth. They were followed by Rusty Voyles, Bill Nichelson, Mike LaBrot, Mike Meyer and David Wofford.
Harris won the first heat with Keith Buckley second. Cruse won the second heat with Boyer second and Meyer third.
In the Modified class (and there were 30 Modifieds), Robert Powers was the feature winner with Claudie Cook second, Brent Thompson third, Chris Hall fourth and Shawn Haynes fifth. They were followed by Matt James, Doug Moore, Jeff LeBaube, Kenny Kennedy and Jim Beishir. Thompson was the overall winner of the Spring Spectacular.
Cook won the first heat with Terry Baker second and Doug Moore third. Thompson won the second heat with Kennedy second and LeBaube third. Powers won the third heat with Hall second and James third. T.J. Williams won the "B" main with Adam Parmeley second.
In the 600cc Multi class, Travis Senters Jr. was the feature winner with Junior Ferguson second, Travis Senters Sr. third, Dan Johnson fourth and Kent Buckley fifth. They were followed by Derek O'Dell, Todd Mizell, Adam Yewell, Clayton Robertson and Matt Dotson.
Senters Jr. won the first heat with Lance McKinney second and Dustin Barks third. Ferguson won the second heat with Senters Sr. second and Buckley third. Ferguson was the overall champion of the Spring Spectacular.
In the "A" class mini sprints, Ben McIntosh was the feature winner with Randy Stafford second, Tyler Thompson third, David DeJournett fourth and Ron Duff fifth. McIntosh also won the heat race with Stafford second and DeJournett third.
