Rug Doctor Rents Clean Sweep Award at record high for Shady Bowl

Salem, Ind. (May 30, 2002) -- The Rug Doctor Rents Clean Sweep Award will be worth a record $1,600 for the Stapleton Buick GMC 150 Presented By Lucas Oil Products this Saturday night at Shady Bowl Speedway, if the fast qualifier can win the event. The payout would break the record for the highest payout ever for the award, which came last season when Junior Hanley collected $1,400 for winning the Rug Doctor Rents Clean Sweep Award on August 19th at Indianapolis Raceway Park.

J.R. Roahrig set the qualifying record for the inaugural series event at the 3/10's mile Shady Bowl Speedway last year, and led several laps prior to being involved in an on track altercation with Kenny Tweedy. Roahrig will get some tough competition from Junior Hanley the Tobacco Depot Fast Qualifier this past weekend at Toledo Speedway and from Joel Kauffman who set a series record by claiming the Tobacco Depot Fast Qualifier Award at the first three series events in 2002. Kauffman was the second fast qualifier at Toledo Speedway, and went on to claim his first series victory in that event.

Practice for the Stapleton Buick GMC 150 Presented By Lucas Oil Products will begin at 3:30PM, qualifying is scheduled for 6PM. The Stapleton Buick GMC Night At The Races will begin at 7PM. For up-to-the-minute coverage, fans can visit the official series website at www.sunocosuperseries.com.
