Mansfield Motorsports Speedway To Sponsor Food and Clothing Drive For Hurricane Katrina Victims At This Sunday's CRA Super Series Event
Salem, IN (September 8, 2005) -- Mansfield Motorsports Speedway will sponsor a food and clothing drive to aid victims of Hurricane Katrina at this Sunday's CRA Super Series Presented By Spray Power event. The speedway will charge a reduced $8 admission price at this Sunday's event in an effort to get fans to help the hurricane survivors by bringing non-perishable food items, personal items and clothing that will be distributed to the survivors of the hurricane in the Gulf Coast region. The person or group that brings in the most items will receive four general Admission tickets for the 2006 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Mansfield Motorsports Speedway.
Sunday's event will be the second CRA Super Series event of the season at Mansfield Motorsports Speedway. On Saturday, April 30th Boris Jurkovic took the lead on the 14th lap of the Mansfield 100 from pole sitter Tommy St. John, who had led the first 13 laps, and held on to win his first CRA Super Series race. Jurkovic had to hold off several challenges from several different drivers during the show, mostly on restarts from cautions, including a late caution that found Eddie Hoffman right on Jurkovic's back bumper for the final green, white, checker finish.
Loveland, Ohio's Dave Jackson managed to get a third place finish in the event, his best finish with the CRA Super Series so far this season. Jackson's car had slid back several positions after starting on the outside pole. Jackson fought back and stayed out of trouble to get the podium finish. Bobby Parsley came from the tail of the field after a flat tire on lap 66 to get fourth. Current series driver points leader Jeff Lane also came from the back of the field after an early spin to finish fifth.
Pit dates will open at 9am Ohio time Sunday. Practice will start at 12noon followed by qualifying at 2pm. There will be an on track autograph session at 3:30pm with all the series drivers. Sunday's race program will begin at 4:30pm, and will include the 100-lap CRA Super Series Presented By Spray Power event. Additional information is available at www.craracing.net.
