CHUCK BARNES JR. TO RACE FIRST 2005 CRA SUPER SERIES AT WINCHESTER SPEEDWAY
(May 13, 2005) -- 2004 CRA Super Series Champion Chuck Barnes Jr. will make his first 2005 start with the CRA Super Series in the Manning Service 100 Presented By Spray Power at Winchester Speedway on Sunday, May 22nd. Barnes decided not to defend his point's championship this season, instead he focusing on trying to race at some different events around the country in order to further his racing career. Barnes is also the Crew Chief this season for CRA Super Series part-time competitor Greg Boone.
So far Barnes has raced two events at Concord Motorsports Park in Concord, North Carolina in the Future Cellular Big 10 Series. The Louisville, Kentucky native finished second in the first Future Cellular Big 10 show on March 26th to Dennis Schoenfeld, in his first ever event at the challenging tri-oval. Barnes made the long haul back to Concord on April 30th for the second Future Cellular Big 10 Series show were he originally finished sixth in the event, but was moved to tenth by track officials because of incidental contact with another car on the white flag lap that caused that car to spin.
Barnes has also competed in two Kentucky Clutch & Performance Late Model events at Salem Speedway. Barnes finished third in the season opener at Salem Speedway on April 10th in a car with no power steering. Barnes came back and finished second on April 24th in an event ran in conjunction with the ARCA RE/MAX Series.
Barnes's #55 Port City Monte Carlo will have sponsorship help for the Winchester Speedway event from Clifty Farms Country Hams, Blake Carburetion and Hawk Performance.
