CRA Releases 2006 Schedules and Rules for Street Stocks and New Sportsman Division
Amendments to Previously Released Street Stock Rules also Included
(Salem, IN) -- Officials from Champion Racing Association (CRA) have released the 2006 schedules for their Street Stocks and newly formed Sportsman divisions, as well as rules for both divisions, included the recently released amendments for the CRA Street Stocks. CRA also manages and promotes the CRA Super Series for Super Late Models as well as manages the legendary Winchester Speedway.
In 2005, CRA introduced the CRA Street Stocks in a small, 6-event schedule. Indiana's Dean Baker claimed the inaugural season championship. Interest grew tremendously, and thus, a 12-race tentative schedule has been released for the 2006 season, featuring visits to Anderson Speedway, Baer Field Speedway, Mt. Lawn Speedway, Plymouth Speedway and the birthplace of the Street Stock series, Winchester Speedway. The basic purse structure calls for $1,000 to win and $75 to start. The CRA Street Stock schedule is highlighted with a season opening $3,000 to win race at Anderson Speedway on Saturday April 8th, and a $5,000 to win race at Winchester Speedway on Sunday, September 17.
The top 10 in the CRA Street Stock final point standings will be honored with cash and prizes at the 2006 CRA Awards banquet, with the Champion guaranteed, at minimum, $1,000 in cash as well as additional prizes.
New in 2006 will be the CRA Sportsman division. Like last year's Street Stock division, its inaugural season features a 6-race schedule. The rules for this division are very accommodating, welcoming similarly performing race vehicles that include many sportsman, truck and limited late models that race many places in the Midwest. The tentative 6-race schedule calls for events at Anderson Speedway, Baer Field Speedway, Mt. Lawn Speedway and Winchester Speedway. The basic purse for the CRA Sportsman calls for $800 to win and $100 to start. The season is will open at Anderson Speedway on Sunday, April 9th.
The top 5 in the final CRA Sportsman point standings will be honored with awards at the 2006 CRA Awards banquet.
