ATLANTA (March 15, 2001) - Joey Clanton and the No. 83 Zaxby's/Steve Dale Motorsports team will head to the USA International Speedway in Lakeland, Florida for the third race of the American Speed Association (ASA) Series season. Florida has been a blessed state for the Zaxby's/Steve Dale entry, as the No. 83 Chevrolet Monte Carlo won the ASA series' season opener in St. Augustine last month. Clanton is hoping for a strong performance in Lakeland to help his team gain positions in the race for the ASA Series Championship.

So far, the 2001 season has been an up and down journey for the Steve Dale Motorsports team. After dominating the season opener at the St. Augustine Speedway, the team finished 27th in the second race of the season at the Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway.

The USA International Speedway is the track that Clanton and the Steve Dale Motorsports team made their ASA Series debut in 2000. The team finished in the 21st position in the first race of the 2000 season after an oil line broke on the car. With one race at the facility under his belt, and a strong 2001 test session, Clanton is looking for his second win of the 2001 season to come at Lakeland.

"Testing went really well in Lakeland. We cut a lot of laps and really gathered valuable information about the handling of the car, and the feel of the track," stated Clanton. "Brake management is key at Lakeland. The straightaways are long and really allow the car to gather speed going into the tight corners".

Clanton feels that he and his crew have a good handle on the track for the car's set-up. "We are taking a brand new car to Lakeland for the race," remarked Clanton. "It's a solid car, and hopefully it will bring us a win."

Led by business entrepreneur, and racing enthusiast Steve Dale, Steve Dale Motorsports builds and races highly competitive winning cars. Based in Fayetteville, Ga., Steve Dale Motorsports has teams in both the American Speed Association and Legends Racing series.

The USA International Speedway, located in the central part of the state of Florida will host the Florida 200 ASA Series race on Saturday, March 24. The race will be televised live on The National Network (TNN), beginning at 9 p.m. EST.
