Chase Austin begins 2005 season at the World Series Of Asphalt
Ken Smith, owner of SS Racing has entered Chase Austin into the World Series of Asphalt event at New Smynra Speedway. Austin will be driving the #11 Delphi sponsored Super Late Model. The event begins February 11th and continues for nine consecutive nights. The event will be Austin's first of 2005 with Ken Smith and SS Racing. And it will be his first event with a professional team of this size. "It's my first time working with a crew outside of it just being my Dad and I. I know I have a lot to learn but look forward to getting out there just driving!" Said Austin. Chase Austin recently signed a driver development contract with Hendrick Motorsports at only fifteen years old. SS Racing has an alliance with Hendrick Motorsports to support them in developing their young driver.
Deon Deneau has been named by SS Racing as the crew chief for Austin for the 2005 season. "We're excited to get the season rolling and feel we can be very competitive at The World Series of Asphalt event." Said Deneau. Two other SS Racing driver's, Butch Miller and Jarit Johnson will be on hand to help coach Austin and support the team's crew. Miller is a five time ASA Racing Champion and has competed in the highest levels of stock car racing. "I never thought I would enjoy being outside the drivers seat. But Chase Austin has the ability and is very coachable." Said Miller. Johnson recently signed on with SS Racing to run selected Craftsman Truck Races and other events to be announced. His role with SS Racing will also include supporting Austin as the teams Car Chief.
