Unique Choose Rule to Shake Things Up During April 8-9 Pit Pass Cabarrus Super Nationals
CONCORD, N.C. (March 10, 2005) - Officials of The Dirt Track @ Lowe's Motor Speedway announced today the track's unique Choose Rule will be utilized during the April 8-9 Pit Pass Cabarrus Super Nationals presented by RACEceiver.
A late model stock car doubleheader, the Friday night portion of the Pit Pass Cabarrus Super Nationals will feature the Southern All Stars East Tour while the Saturday night program will be part of the nomadic Lucas Oil NARA DirtCar Series.
All restarts during the Pit Pass Cabarrus Super Nationals will be double-file and the Choose Rule gives competitors the option of lining up in either the inside or outside row.
One lap prior to the green flag, drivers will have to make a choice. If the first four cars select the inside line and the fifth-place man moves to the outside, he advances to the outside of the front row.
"The Choose Rule can really shake things up," said H.A. "Humpy" Wheeler, president and general manager of Lowe's Motor Speedway. "The anticipation as to which line a driver will choose adds a whole element of entertainment and the fans absolutely love it."
Time trials have also been eliminated for the Pit Pass Cabarrus Super Nationals with each competitor drawing for his heat-race starting position. Heat-race winners will then redraw to determine the starting lineup for the feature.
The cars and stars from each of the two series are expected to be in action both nights with defending O'Reilly Southern All Star Racing Series champion Shane Tankersley of Morganton, Ga., and 2004 Lucas Oil NARA DirtCar Series titlist Shannon Babb of Moweaqua, Ill., headlining the entry list.
CRASHCars, the new division that is redefining entry-level short-track racing, will make its world debut during the Friday night card with a full slate of CRASHCar racing also on tap Saturday night.
The Pit Pass Cabarrus Super Nationals presented by RACEceiver will run in conjunction with the April 7-10 Food Lion AutoFair at Lowe's Motor Speedway. Spread over four days, Food Lion AutoFair is the nation's largest show of its kind. Among the attractions are a car show featuring more than 50 car clubs, thousands of parts and memorabilia vendors, a collector car auction and unusual automotive attractions. A car corral will feature nearly 1,500 vehicles of all makes and models available for sale or trade.
Adult tickets for the Friday night portion of the Pit Pass Cabarrus Super Nationals are $15 with children ages 12 and under admitted for just $5. Reserved adult seats for the Saturday card are $25 with children once again admitted for $5.
Tickets can be purchased online at www.lowesmotorspeedway.com or by calling 1-800-455-FANS.
