Carr joins ASA staff

PENDLETON, Ind. (March 20, 2001) -- The American Speed Association announced that Greg Carr has joined the ASA ACDelco Series staff, where he will become the National Sales and Marketing Manager. Carr moves to ASA in Pendleton, Ind. from Nashville, Tenn., w here he spent several years working with a motorsports marketing firm.

"Before I came to ASA, I was doing consulting to companies on how to leverage their motorsports involvement," Carr said. "I've worked with corporations and with teams in Winston Cup, Busch and many other forms of racing."

Carr, 27, is a native of Sylacauga, Ala. and has followed the ASA ACDelco Series for many years. He has also spent some time behind the wheel, having competed in late model stock cars in his home state at Birmingham Speedway and Montgomery Motor Speedway. He also competed occasionally in the Southern All Star Series from 1993 through 1997 when he hung up his driving gloves.

"I've always followed all forms of motorsports and I have a great respect for the ASA ACDelco Series," Carr said.

Carr attended the University of Auburn (Ala.) where he played tennis before transferring to the University of Montevallo (Ala.). He graduated from Montevallo with a major in political science and a minor in marketing. He and his wife Laura have been marrie d for five years.

As for the future, Carr is excited about the opportunity before him with ASA Racing.

"This series has seen tremendous growth over the past few years and has truly become the greatest marketing value in motorsports," Carr said. "My goal is to continue to broaden the growth of the ASA ACDelco Series by providing the most competitive sponsors hip opportunities in motorsports for corporate America."
