Thomson wins, Nicholson and Norris have career best finishes
MOSPORT, ONTARIO - DriveFit, Young Drivers of Canada Ford Taurus driver, Dennis Thomson had his second clean sweep of the year in Round 3 of the Ontario Pro Challenge Series at Mosport Speedway on June 5. NU-GRO 'Wipe Out' Dodge Intrepid driver, Josh Nicholson, and apprenticesearch.com Dodge Intrepid driver Tim Norris, both had career best finishes, second and third respectively.
"That thing was just haulin'," Thomson said after his second feature win of the year. "The DriveFit, Young Drivers of Canada Ford Taurus was really on it tonight,"
Thomson also won both heat races, from second and fifth starting positions. With the win, Thomson extends his points lead to 35 over his nearest rival.
Nicholson was ecstatic about his career best finish. "The car was amazing," Nicholson said. "I was a little loose at the end, but I knew if I kept it on the bottom, I would be okay." Nicholson had a tough time in the heats, with a ninth and a sixth. "It just didn't feel right. Once I figured out turns three and four, it was much better." The inversion pill put him on the outside of the front row for the feature and he made the most of a good starting position.
Norris was very happy with his third place, especially with a new name on the hood of his car. "The car was really good all night," Norris said. "I am really excited about the opportunity to promote apprenticesearch.com." Norris also scored valuable points in the heat races with a fourth and second place finishes.
Fourth in the feature was International Truck and Engine Pontiac Grand Prix driver Ken Nicholson. Behind Nicholson came, Cameron Motorsports/Shift Ford Taurus driver Robert Wickens, Mike Bell in the Markham Driveline Chevy Monte Carlo, Kevin Crowhurst, in his O'Connor's Distribution Dodge Intrepid and CARSTAR Monte Carlo driver Russ Bond. Rounding out the order was Danielle Wilson in her Da-Light Chevy Monte Carlo, and Melitta Canada Monte Carlo driver Thane Woodside.
Round 4 of the Ontario Pro Challenge Series is on June 19, at Flamboro Speedway.
