HICKORY, NC - For the fifth time this season, Keith Bumgarner, 22, of Conover, NC, raced into Victory Lane in an ARA Kool Seal Challenge Late Model Stock Car All-Star event. The Denver Marine 125 was Bumgarner's second win of the season on the historical Hickory Motor Speedway asphalt.

"After the pass I just had to be smooth and save my tires," Bumgarner said. "Greg's been know to sucker a few people in and not show what he's got until the end. So, I needed good tires just in case."

Bumgarner started fourth and passed polesitter Greg Marlowe on lap 57 for the lead. Marlowe returned the challenge on several occasions but could not retake the lead.

"We're getting closer," Marlowe, the defending ARA All-Star champion said following the race. "We feel that we've got something good to build on, now."

Marlowe finished second. He was followed by Mark Setzer, Scott Kilby and Keith Stiltner. Unofficially, with the win, Bumgarner closed to within one point of leader Kilby.

Five cautions slowed the event. The first caution came as the pack entered the home straightaway at the end of the first lap and involved most of the back half of the field.

Setzer jumped from his outside starting spot into the lead at the start of the feature. Fastest qualifier Marlowe retook the lead on lap six. Bumgarner battled to the front just before halfway for the final pass for the lead.
