Northern All Star Late Models $2000 To Win Plus - O'Neal Wood Products Open Wheel Modifieds, And Tire & Wheel Center Super Stocks
BLOOMINGTON, IN (June 17, 2001) - The Northern All Star Late Models will make their first ever visit to the famed red clay that is Bloomington Speedway. A trip to Bloomington Speedway will be a whale of a challenge for many of the Northern All Star late model drivers. Dry slick is the norm for these guys; and Mike Miles simply will not have that. The guys that will do well at Bloomington Speedway are the guys who can handle a good, heavy track. Whoever, may have the advantage at the start of the evening on June 22, everyone will have a chance regardless of where they start the feature event. The guy who finds the right line around the red clay will be able to come from deep in the pack to victory.
The top Northern All Star Late Model drivers as of May 27 were Steve Hillard, Steve Barnett, Jim Curry, Shawn Negarard, Bob Pierce, Scott James, Frank Reaber, Kevin Claycomb, Doug McCammon, and Sam Epling. However, you can expect to see a lot of late model drivers who don't normally run with the Northern All Stars. Many of the guys who normally compete at Brownstown Speedway will probably be in attendance as well. Also, look for some of our regular O'Neal Wood Products Open Wheel Modified and Tire & Wheel Center Super Stock drivers to pick up a late model ride for this event and do double duty for this show.
Door handle to door handle competition can be expected from this event. Don't look for follow the leader racing here. You won't find it. These guys will be letting it all hang out to get to the front; and that will mean using every inch of the track. Some will stay high and risk sliding over the cushion; and some will stay on the "huggy pole" and risk falling behind the driver who uses momentum to carry him to the lead. This track will place a big premium on a driver being able to read the track and adjust his line to best utilize it. Who will that be? I don't know. Come to Bloomington Speedway on Friday - June 22 and find out. This evening will be special for Bloomington Speedway fans, for late model fans, and for the NASLM. The late models seldom get an opportunity to compete on this 78 year old red clay oval. It is an opportunity for them to add a very important chapter to their history and to the history of this famous speedway. You will not want to miss being a part of this very special evening.
The O'Neal Wood Products Open Wheel Modifieds and Tire & Wheel Center Super Stocks will also be in competition on Friday, June 22. These guys have all lost four races to the weatherman; and they don't want to lose any more.
The pit gates will open at 4:30 PM. The Grandstands open at 5:30 PM. Hot laps begin at 6:30PM; and racing begins at 7:30 PM. Free parking and overnight camping is permitted. Coolers are allowed: but glass containers are prohibited. General Admission for this special show is only $13 while pit admission is $20. As always, children 12 and under are admitted free with a paying adult.
