MACS Late Models at Big Diamond August 4.
Lancaster, PA - July 12 - The Mid Atlantic Championship Series (MACS) Late Models appearance at Big Diamond Raceway in Minersville, PA is drawing closer. The powerful, big block MACS Late Models will be making their first appearance ever at the 3/8-mile, banked oval that is Big Diamond on Sunday night, August 4.. In fact, it will be the first appearance of the Indiana, PA-based MACS east of the state's Susquehanna River.
The MACS Late Model event will see gates opening at 4PM. Practice will start at 6 o'clock and time trials will be run at 6:30 to enable the event to be completed in a timely manner. The Black Gold 50 will pay $5,000 to win of the $25,000 total purse.

Mike Blose of New Bethlehem, PA was the MACS champion in 2001 over Lynn Geisler of Cranberry Township, PA; Jim Yoder of nearby Selinsgrove, PA; Tom Myers of Greencastle, PA and Larry Wright of Imler, PA.
But in addition to Yoder, there are several local late model competitors that did well with MACS in 2001 and, although not running the full 2002 MACS Tour, will be on hand at Big Diamond.
Past Big Diamond limited late model champion and feature winner, Scott Haus of Hamburg, PA, finished seventh in points. Scott has run well this year and won at Renegade (formerly called STARS) Late Model race in Pennsylvania just last weekend.
Big D's historic limited late model Mr. Consistency, Jim Bernheisel of Lebanon, PA took a MACS feature win at Latrobe Speedway. This year Jim is in the top ten in Renegade Late Model points and is the Rookie of the Year point leader.
Chris Shuey of Orefield, PA was 14th in points with MACS in 2001 but this year is staying closer to home and already has a feature win to his credit.
