Minersville, PA - May 30 - Racing returns to Big Diamond Raceway this Friday night, June 6, kicking off a big month of action with U.S. Army night featuring the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modifieds, ShorTrack Sportsman Modifieds and Roadrunners.
Minersville, PA - May 30 - Racing returns to Big Diamond Raceway this Friday night, June 6, kicking off a big month of action with U.S. Army night featuring the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modifieds, ShorTrack Sportsman Modifieds and Roadrunners. Gates open at 6 PM with warm-ups at 7:30 and the first heat at 8 o'clock.
The Sportsman Modifieds are very anxious for this event as it will mark their first competitive action at Big Diamond since April 25 and only their second appearance of the year. Representative from the U. S. Army will be on hand for the racing card with displays and recruiters.
On Friday, June 13 the American Outlaw Action Sprint (AOAS) Series, based in North Carolina, will join the Doorways Unlimited KARS Sprints at Big Diamond in a special challenge event paying $1500-to-win. The NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modifieds and Roadrunners will also be on the three division card. Car specifications for the AOAS Series correspond to the rules for the United Racing Club so a number of their competitors are expected to return to Big Diamond for the second time this season in this event.
For the first time in the history of the Big Diamond Raceway, the Super DIRT Series Modifieds will invade the Minersville, PA oval with the DOWN, DIRTY & WILD 100 on Wednesday night, June 18. The top drivers of the Super DIRT Series Big Block Modified Tour will find their way to Big Diamond, for this 100 lap Modified Championship paying $6,000 to win. This show is a co-promoted effort by Track Operators Fritz and JoAnn Roehrig along with Thunder on the Hill Racing Series Promoter Bob Miller.
The month of June closes with the exciting weekly racing that has made Big Diamond what it is today. On Friday, June 20 and 27, the NASCAR Modifieds, Sportsman Modifieds and Roadrunners take the spotlight and begin to position themselves for the tracks season-long point races. The first Kids Big Wheel race will take place as part of the June 20 giving the young fans the chance to enjoy the thrill of racing competition on the same frontstretch, clay surface that their favorite drivers do.
Dodge Night follows on June 27 with sponsorship from the Big Diamond's NASCAR weekly racing national sponsor, Dodge, and locally by Pritz Dodge in Minersville.
