JC Beattie Jr. started out the week unsure if his ATI team would be able to make the Irwindale race. On the trip back to the shop in Baltimore, MD, following the previous race at Lakeland Beattie's hauler broke down. Not once, but twice.

After getting it fixed, the team headed west. Once again, there were problems,"My father and another guy ended up driving the rig out there. Our regular truck was fixed, yet again, and broke 30 miles into the trip. Luckily we were able to use our ATI Drag Racing truck to tow the trailer out there for the race. I have to thank my father for that one."

When the ATI team finally made it to the track at Irwindale, CA, Beattie says it was "Not to bad a day at all for us. It could have been way better. The setup on the car was good, we didn't change to much on it. We ran an 18.27 in practice which would have been great in qualifing, but the weather change caught us off guard and I could only get an 18.6 out of the car, putting us 21st on time and 23rd to start with a provisional."

After some early problems in the pits, Beattie Jr. got caught three laps down early and ended the race in 15th. Following the race, Mike Cope was disqualified, moving Beattie to 14th.

Cope refused to allow his engine to be pulled from the car for inspection, which lead to the disqualification and loss of 100 points.

This weekend, Beattie and the ASA Series head to South Boston, Va.

"South Boston is only 4/10ths of a mile and kind of tight. We are taking TIMEX, to the race. That is our bullet proof car that has taken every bump and bang from the last two seasons and kept on ticking. The facility is nice, you have to eat a Bologny Burger to be initiated there. There is 12 degrees of banking and the surface is better than most places. All in all, it's a one day show, so the weekend is quick."
