HARDEEVILLE, S.C. (May 22, 2001) - The Hardeeville Motor Speedway doesn't plan on adding baseball to their regular weekly line-up, but for this weekend, all little leaguers are invited to join in on the action. All team members in uniform will be admitted free of charge this Saturday night. This weekend's racing activities include the O.C. Welch Ford-Lincoln-Mercury Late Models, Street Stocks, Mini Stocks, Open Wheel Modifieds, Bandolero Cars and as a special event, the Jet Food Stores Legends Cars Masters Classic.
Although those in little league are younger in age, Hardeeville Motor Speedway plans to span the ages this weekend with the running of the Jet Food Stores Legends Cars Masters Classic. Drivers in this race are required to be 40 years of age and older. Masters drivers will have a round of qualifying, two heat races of 15 laps each, a 25-lap B-Main Event, capped off by the 40-lap feature event, which will pay $500 to the winner.
Entrants for the Masters Classic include a large number of Hardeeville Motor Speedway regulars, as well as some from the Charlotte, N.C. area and the state of Florida. More competitors are expected to enter during registration at the track on Saturday afternoon. After receiving much attention from hosting the Legends Cars World Finals in March of this year, the Hardeeville Motor Speedway expects a large turnout for the Masters Classic, as they continue to be praised for the design of the track. Legends Cars are capable of three to four-wide racing around the 1/3-mile, high-banked speedway.
Along with the Jet Food Stores Legends Cars Masters Classic, the "bases are loaded", with five other exciting divisions filling up the evening's roster. Children will also get the chance to "take a swing" behind the wheel of their own Coca-Cola Pedal Car.
Grandstands open at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. The green flag waves at 5:30 p.m. for qualifying races. Feature races are set to begin at 7:30 p.m. Hardeeville Motor Speedway is located three miles southeast of I-95 on Highway 17. Ticket prices are $10 for adults, with reduced rates for seniors, military and children. Children under five are admitted free. Children wearing their little league uniform will also be admitted free. Information is available at www.hardeevillespeedway.com or by calling (843) 784-RACE. Step up to the plate and come check out the action at Hardeeville Motor Speedway! You won't strike out!
