AUBURNDALE SPEEDWAY, Auburndale, Florida (Oct. 10) - Modified Mini Stock fast qualifier Marlon Lynn drove his Ford Mustang to the 50 lap Feature win tonight. Other winners included Howard Osteen (Late Model), David Williamson (Street Stock), Scott Taylor (Pure Stock 4 Cylinder), and Carl Thompson (Pure Stock V-8).

In the special 50 lap Modified Mini Stock Feature, fast qualifier Marlon Lynn started on the pole with his Cody's Auto Parts Ford. Lee Davis started second with his Autostar Industries/Davis Auto Repair Ford and chased Lynn for the entire Feature, seldom falling more than one or two car lengths behind. Several times Davis bumped the rear of Lynn's car to put pressure on him, he never managed a pass though. At the finish it was Lynn in Victory Lane, with Davis a close second. Shaun Williams Apex Mortgage/CPI Small Engines Mercury was third, Don Ezell took fourth in his Narramores Auto Repair/Harrison Waste Water Treatment Ford, and Eugene Davidson rounded out the top five with his Car Doctor/Omni Enterprises Dodge.

Late Model action saw Howard Osteen and Eddie King Sr. battle the entire 25 laps in the Feature. The pair started side by side on the front row, with Osteen grabbing the lead at the start and King in hot pursuit. King tried for the lead several times but never managed to take it from Osteen. On a couple of occassions King stuck nose of his Ford under Osteen's Chevy entering the first turn, only to have Osteen slam the door! At the checkers it was Osteen's Gator Tile Chevy with the win, and King's Scotty's Ford was less than a car length behind in second. Steve Ware did a good job driving the Carroll's Wood Products/Hitchin' Post Pontiac to third in a guest driving appearance, while veteran Jimmy Castleberry placed fourth in the Narramores Auto Service/Wise's Meat Market Chevy, with the Midas Jewelers/Florida Welding Chevy of Richard Elkins Jr. in fifth. Heat race wins in Late Model went to Osteen and Ollie Harbin.

The Street Stock racing was spectacular as usual. In the 25 lap Feature, Dave Williamson managed to grab the victory over a tough field of contenders, after starting on the outside of the front row. Williamson's Carr's Automotive/American Automotive Finishes Chevy crossed the finish line a half a car length ahead of the hard charging Southern Concrete/Florida Plating Pontiac of Jason Bennett that attempted to pass coming out of the fourth turn. In third was the Carroll's Trucking/Hitchin' Post Chevy driven by third place Late Model finisher Steve Ware. Michael King's H&W Transport/Ronnie's Manufactured Homes Chevy took fourth, fighting off the challenge of Westley Bass in the Blackburn & Sons/Citgo Chevy, which came home fifth. Street Stock heat race victories went to King and Paul Gibbs.

Scott Taylor used some great driving and well timed passing to take his Signtech Plus/All American Truck Brokers Dodge to Victory Lane in the 15 lap Pure Stock 4 Cylinder Feature. Taylor came from the tenth starting spot in the field to take the lead with just a couple of laps to go. Wayne Weaver also did an outstanding job coming from the eighteenth starting position to finish a close second in his Suncoast Citrus/Beverage Depot Dodge. Sixth place starter Gary Green was third at the checkers in his Camping Connection/Campbell City Auto Salvage Ford, followed by Chris Kingham's Davis Auto Repair/Alpha Signs Dodge in fourth, and the Weymer Builders/DJ Auto Detailing Dodge driven by Mark Soule in fifth. Pure Stock 4 Cylinder heat race winners were Taylor and Weaver.

Pure Stock V-8 was a slam, bang affair as usual, and in the end it was Carl Thompson that hung on for the win. Thompson started his D&S Excavating/Thompson Trucking Chevy on the pole in the 15 lap Feature race and battled Mitch Large in the J&D Mobile Home Parts Chevy for the entire distance. At the checkered flag it was Thompson the winner, Large a close second, with William Hawkins taking third. Brian Donahue drove the Polk Lawn Care/Pitts Stop Muffler Chevy to fourth, and fifth went to Donnie Harp's Gator Tile/King Brothers Roofing Chevy. Heat race wins in Pure Stock V-8 were taken by Donahue and Travis Haas.

Next Saturday night October 17, Auburndale Speedway presents its regular program featuring Late Models, Street Stocks, Modified Mini Stocks, Pure Stock 4 Cylinders, and Pure Stock V-8's, plus Top Cops racing.
