AUBURNDALE SPEEDWAY PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(8-9-1997) Todd and Tregear Share Victory Lane at Auburndale Speedway by Gene Crane Auburndale, FL-- Richard Todd planted his Oldmobile in the Victory Circle at Auburndale Speedway this past Saturday night in the 25 lap Late Model Sportsman feature. Sharing the honors for the evening was Steve Tregear, who also took the win in the Dwarf Car feature. Other winners on the night included Lee Davis, Mini Stock; Larry Chumney, Street Stock; Greg Bacon, V8 Pure Stock and Reggie Ware 4 Cylinder Pure Stock. Burt Morse captured the Kids Club senior division win and Freddie Lucas staked claim to the Junior Division run. After three attempts to get the Late Model Sportsman feature underway the green finally came out to stay and when the dust settled Richard Todd held off a charge from Jeff McCaw to claim the win. Todd was pressured all race long for the point but never relinquished the lead to early race challenger Ollie Harbin nor McCaw who battled his way to the front after starting deep in the field. Thomas Poff crossed the stripe in third followed by Ray, the "Hunkster", Cuzzone and Mark Wright. The point standings for the Championship in the Late Model Sportsman division shuffles again with Ray Cuzzone going to the top of the list with a 22 point advantage over Ollie Harbin. Rookie of the Year contender Tony Poff continues to hold down the third spot 69 points behind Cuzzone. Feature winner Todd trails by 106 points and Harold Cannon is fifth only 2 markers ahead of Billy Jones. The DWARF cars put on another spectacular show as Steve Tregear passed race leader Fred Brunson with five to go and went on to the victory. Brunson led from the green but an apparent broken motor mount slowed the leader
