Email address: DirtNews@aol.com Web site: http://members.aol.com/dirtnews/digest =================================== CONTENTS: April 18-20 preview (April 17) HAV-A-TAMPA: Bloomquist to defend title at Brownstown OTHER RACES: Roundup of weekend's other events =================================== HAV-A-TAMPA DIRT RACING SERIES

TRACK: Brownstown (Ind.) Speedway, quarter-mile oval.

DAYS: Friday (qualifying and heats) and Saturday (consolations and feature).

FEATURE: 100 laps, $15,000 to win.

RACE INFORMATION: (812) 342-6461 or 358-5332.

NOTES: Two-time Hav-A-Tampa champion Scott Bloomquist has told Brownstown promoter James Essex that he'll defend last year's victory in the series debut at the track .... if Bloomquist indeed races, it would be his first appearance with Hav-A-Tampa this year .... Bloomquist has been on a self-imposed boycott of Hav-A-Tampa stemming from a penalty he received last year that he felt unfairly cost him a possible third series title .... Billy Moyer Jr. will visit one of his favorite tracks coming off last week's victory at hometown Batesville (Ark.) Speedway .... besides Hav-A-Tampa regulars such as defending champion Freddy Smith, Wendell Wallace, Johnny Virden and Clint Smith, top Brownstown drivers expected include Mike Jewell, Steve Barnett, C.J. Rayburn and Jim Curry .... Rayburn, a 57-year-old chassis-builder and driver, won Brownstown's $5,000-to-win season-opening Hoosier Dirt Classic on March 29 .... Indy Racing League driver Tony Stewart, who piloted a Rayburn Team car to second place March 29, may race this weekend, too .... and don't be surprised if John Gill, who suffered serious injuries in an ARCA accident last November at Atlanta Motor Speedway, decides to strap himself into a dirt late model .... practice is scheduled for Thursday night from 6 to 9 p.m. .... the race will be first televised at the 45-year-old track, with broadcasts appearing next month on Fox Sports networks.
