TNN To Air 2002 ASA Racing Schedule

PENDLETON, Ind. (October 19, 2001) -- Officials from the American Speed Association announced today that the new TNN: The National Network will televise the entire 20-event race schedule for the 2002 ASA Racing Series season. The race telecasts will be produced by TNN Sports.

"We are pleased to announce today that TNN will once again broadcast ASA races in the year 2002," commented ASA Vice President of Sales and Marketing Mark Gundrum. "TNN will be airing all 20 events next year, the third consecutive year the entire ASA Racing schedule can be seen exclusively on The National Network."

With their television plans now in place, series officials have indicated the 2002 schedule of events will be released in the near future.

"We expect to publicly announce the ASA Racing Series schedule of events within the next week or two," Gundrum continued. "Much of the scheduling process is directly related to television. With that phase of the process now complete, we can finalize times and dates with the tracks scheduled to host ASA events in 2002."

The 2002 broadcast schedule will mark the 12th year of ASA Racing coverage on TNN. Viacom, the parent company of MTV Networks, acquired TNN when the media company merged with CBS in the spring of 2000. In the fall of 2000, TNN was re-branded as The Nationa l Network. The network now reaches more than 84 million households in the United States and Canada.
