NASHVILLE, Tenn. (November 13, 2001) - The 2001 ASA ACDelco Series is now complete and the members of the ASA community are looking forward to one more gathering. This one, held on the weekend of December 7-8, is to honor the season's award winners, including the Rookie of the Year and National Champion Johnny Sauter, as drivers, teams and officials will convene at Opryland Hotel Convention Center in Nashville, Tenn.

The Banquet, which will mark the fifth consecutive year the ASA community has gathered at the luxurious Opryland Hotel Convention Center, will follow a format very similar to that of last year's event, with two nights of programs, including an invitation-only program on Friday night for the disbursement of points fund checks. Both programs will be held in the Governor's Ballroom.

Friday evening's preliminary awards program and check disbursement will begin at 6 p.m. (local) with a buffet-style dinner. A short program including new announcements, scheduling information, awards and points fund check disbursement will begin at 7. Owner and driver presence is mandatory for issuance of checks. The dress code for Friday evening will be business attire; sport coat and tire for men; skirt, dress or pant outfit for women. No jeans will be permitted.

The Saturday program is open to the public, with the car owners and drivers who finished in the top-20 in the 2001 owners points standings required to attend. The event is "black-tie" formal. Events begin on Saturday with registration opening at 4:30 p.m. Ticket orders that are received after November 28th will be held at the door for pickup at that time.

The Governor's Ballroom Lobby will host a cocktail hour starting at 5 p.m. Seating for dinner will begin at 6, with invocation at 6:25. Dinner will be served from 6:30 to 8, when the awards program will begin.

Johnny Sauter will be crowned both the ASA National Champion and Pat Schauer Memorial Rookie of the Year, which will combine for a total payout of $250,000. In addition to his $251,000 in earnings through the entire 20-race season, including his 10 wins, Sauter will be the first driver in ASA history to earn more than a half-million dollars in total season earnings.

Those who wish to stay at Opryland Hotel Convention Center during the ASA National Awards Banquet weekend of December 7-8, 2001 must make their reservations prior to November 11, 2001. Tickets for the 2001 ASA National Awards Banquet will be available until December 1.
