Ferraris atop GT-A podium in Barber
Martin Fuentes scores GT-A victory on Saturday at Barber Motorsports Park
Englewood Cliffs, N.J.) – The weekend’s pair of Pirelli World Challenge races brought another victory for the Ferrari 458 Italia when Martin Fuentes scored GT-A victory in Saturday’s 50-minute race.
Driving the no. 07 Scuderia Corsa / Hublot Ferrari 458 Italia, Fuentes was able to pass other GT-A competitors in the closing stages of the race and advance up to ninth position . It was a Ferrari one-two in GT-A as Fuentes was followed to the checkered flag closely by Henrique Cisneros in the no. 30 MOMO Ferrari 458 Italia.
Strong results were recorded for Ferrari in the GT category as well. Olivier Beretta, driving the no. 61 R. Ferri Motorsport Ferrari 458 Italia, finished in sixth place in Saturday’s race and fourth in Sunday’s. Cracking the top-10 in Sunday’s race was Duncan Ende in the no. 64 Scuderia Corsa/Lino’spresso Ferrari 458 Italia.
31 Ferrari 458 Challenge Evos on track at Sonoma Raceway
While four Ferrari 458 Italias competed in the Pirelli World Challenge, 31 Ferrari 458 Challenge Evos competed at Sonoma Raceway for the fifth and sixth rounds of the North American Ferrari Challenge. The event also featured 140 Ferraris in the car corrals and lapping sessions featuring the Ferrari Enzo and Ferrari LaFerrari.
Saturday’s race saw Emmanuel Anassis (Ferrari of Quebec) score the overall and Trofeo Pirelli victory after leading the race from start to finish. Anthony Imperato (Ferrari of Long Island) won in Trofeo Pirelli AM and Jean-Claude Saada (Boardwalk Ferrari) won the Coppa Shell class.
Sunday’s podium would have an entirely different look, as Ricardo Perez (Ferrari of Houston) led the overall field to the checkered flag and won the Trofeo Pirelli class. Carlos Conde (Miller Motorcars) won the Trofeo Pirelli AM class and Joe Courtney (Miller Motorcars) won the Coppa Shell class.
The Pirelli World Challenge races from Barber Motorsports Park will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network will be shown on Sunday, May 3 at 2:00 PM ET.
