Blackdog Speed Shop to run new Camaro GT4.Rs
Three-time Pirelli World Challenge GTS champion team Blackdog Speed Shop has become the first team to confirm its use of the new Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R.
The Lincolnshire, Ill.,-based team, which has 18 PWC race wins to its credit, will run two examples of the new Camaro which was unveiled yesterday, and they will again be driven by Lawson Aschenbach and Tony Gaples.
Said Gaples: “This is going to be a great season… Paddle shift, better cornering, improved aero – it’s all any racer could want! I feel really good about the potential of the Camaro GT4.R in the new-look GTS class.
“The global SRO rules should be very good for balancing all the competing cars in the category.”
Aschenbach, who took the GTS title for Blackdog in 2013 and ’14, added: “Not only does the new Camaro look and sound awesome, but this car is a testament to all the hard work and dedication back at Chevrolet and all our support partners. The GTS class is going to be competitive this year, and I’m confident that our new hotrod will give us an edge."
Aschenbach and Gaples finished third and eighth respectively in the GTS points table last year, with Aschenbach scoring four wins.
