The Cedar Lake Speedway in Somerset, Wisconsin has raised their purse nearly $4,000 for the April 13th Wissota Sprint Series opener. The event will pay $1,200 to the winner, $800 for second and $200 to start if 30 cars are present. In addition to the pay increase, there will also be a Loucks and Associates Dash for Cash with a $1,200 total purse that will pay $500 to the winner and a Minnesota Dirt Track Racing (www.gotomn.com) Hard Charger award that will pay $250 to the driver who advances the most positions in the feature race. The speedway would also like to acknowledge Butch Donahue of www.bikershop.com for their contribution to the increased purse.

The Cedar Lake Speedway will be hosting their first Wissota Sprint Series event in four years, and they hope to make the event a success and an annual tradition. The event is scheduled to get underway with hot laps at 5PM and racing at 6PM. 1999 Wissota Sprint Champion and Indy 500 competitor Roger Rager will be signing autographs from 4:15 to 5:15 with his 2002 USAC Weld Racing Silver Crown Series racer on hand. There has been increased interest from throughout the Upper Midwest due to the increased purse and the fact that this will be the first Sprint race in the region for 2002.
