Norem nabs Wissota's Anderson Memorial.

Tony Norem outdistanced the field to take the $1,200 victory in the first ever Billy Anderson Memorial at Cedar Lake Speedway last Saturday night. Norem was driving a car owned by Mike Botzek, an owner that Anderson had raced with throughout his career. The Dassel, Minnesota driver started on the inside of the second row and quickly found his way to the front after an initial red flag for a flip by Cleveland, Minnesota's Mike Sargent.

Norem would lead the rest of the way to the checkered flag but it was South Dakota visitor Jake Peters, who was making a rare Wissota start, who was putting on a show as he sliced his way from his starting start on the inside of the fourth row. Peters would eventually wind up in the second position as the race was shortened from 25 laps to 15 laps. Iowa's Bill Boles ran in the third position with Minnesota drivers Joe Kouba and Jerry Richert Jr. rounding out the fastest five spots. The heat races for the 31 Wissota Sprints went to Lou Kennedy Jr., John Nelson, and Norem while Sargent defeated first time driver Dave Mass in the B-main.

The next scheduled race for the Wissota Sprint series will be on Friday, April 26th for the season opener at the Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, North Dakota.
