15 December, 2002 -- The time is nearing for when Disbury Family Racing's star American import, Jeff Shepard to fly into the team's Adelaide base with only 4 sleeps before the 31-year old touches down on Australian shores.
While the snow continues to fall in his native Maryland in America Shepard is looking forward to his first summer Christmas.
"It's going to be kinda weird having Christmas without snow but I'm really looking forward to it," said Shepard following some geese hunting yesterday.
"Right now I'm busy cramming as much hunting in as possible along with organizing Christmas presents for my family back here and from what I hear Darren, Dave, Bazz and the guys are flat chat getting the gear sorted for our 13 shows across Australia."
Team Owner Darren Disbury says "the team is working against time to ensure everything is in perfect order for when Shep arrives."
"Even the transporter has recently undergone a new livery to live up to the immaculate presentation of the team and sponsor, Truckworks Australia."
"We are yet to make a final decision but the new Eagle chassis will more than likely undergo a slight change in the current livery as well."
Shepard will make his Australian debut on December 26th at Adelaide's Speedway City followed by two rounds of the World Series Sprintcars Championship at Murray Bridge's Riverview Speedway and Mount Gambier's Borderline Speedway on consecutive nights.
The former World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year is excited about joining the Series for selected rounds and battle with current World Series points leader good friend, Daryn Pittman.
"Last year we had some friendly rivalry in the four events we raced each other down under and he beat me three times, I want to return the favour this year," joked Shepard.
