(6/19/2005 Monett, MO) Randy Martin won his second feature in as many nights by winning at Monett Speedway.
Chris Parkinson led the first lap until a caution for David Brown, who went over the turn 3 and 4 banking. On the restart, Martin used the low side of the raceway to check out from the rest of the field. The driver on the move in this one was Rusty Potter, who came from 7th to 3rd.
Benson jumped into the lead followed by Jobe. Brian Brown and Toby Brown had a short battle in turn one with both using the low side of the raceway. Brian Brown then went to the high side of turns 3 and 4 to pass three cars and move into 3rd. He then set his sights on second place Eric Jobe. Just after Brown had made an aggressive lowside pass of Jobe in turns 3 and 4 on lap two, a red flag was thrown. Faron Crank had spun in turns 3 and 4 and Josh Lett was the victim of having no place to go and catapulting up and over the banking and flipping. Luckily, the damage to the Lett Motorsports #9 was not as bad as first suspected, but Josh was done for the night.
B.Brown moved into the lead on the restart and a couple of laps later, Benson's fine run came to and end as his car coasted to a stop in the backstretch infield. He would also be done for the night.
Jamie Passmore came up to 2nd using the extreme low side of the raceway, but was not able to catch the rimriding Brown.
On the start, Randy Martin jumped into the lead using the low side of the track. Brian Brown was running the high side of the raceway and as the two came to the start/finish line, Brown would barely lead lap one. On lap two, Martin got a good run on the bottom and passed Brown back to barely lead this lap.
Martin would lead the rest of the way, but not without some serious challenges from B. Brown and later Toby Brown.
A few laps into the race, Jamie Passmore did a 360 in turn four costing him his position in the top five.
Toby Brown was able to take over third on lap six and began reeling in the leaders. He had found some rubber about a third of the way up the track. His first victim was Brian Brown and then he set his sights on Martin.
About halfway through the race, T. Brown had made his way to Martin's rear bumper. As the two negotiated lapped traffic in turn one, Martin was able to clear the lapped machine of Faron Crank. Brown was not as lucky and climbed Crank's right rear with his left front. As Brown got his car settled down, he was able to finally clear Crank's lapped machine in turns three and four, but this gave Martin the breathing room needed to go on to victory in the nonstop affair. This marked the second win in as many nights for Martin in the Diamond Pet Foods #14. Toby Brown moved up six spots for a runner-up finish, followed by Brian Brown, Chris Parkinson, and Eric Jobe. Rusty Potter shook off some recent bad luck to finish sixth, followed by Jamie Passmore, Terry Hinck, Rafe Essary, and Jay Russell.
