41 DATES ON 1998 WILLIAMS GROVE SCHEDULE MECHANICSBURG, PA
Williams Grove Speedway has released a 41-date schedule for its 59th season of auto racing, which begins on Sunday afternoon, March 1. at 2:00 pm.
Sprint car racing will be the sole attraction for the opener and sprint cars will be the featured attraction on 36 of the 41 dates on the 1998 schedule. While the Grove sprint cars have no weekly support division, the limited sprints come closest to that category. The 358 cubic inch unsanctioned limiteds have been slated to make eleven appearances this year.
The Pennzoil World of Outlaws have once again been booked for seven nights. The Outlaw dates are May 21-22 and May 29, July 30-31 and the National Open Weekend coming up on October 2-3.
The All Star sprints will make two appearances at the Grove in "98. The first is May 1 and the second is August 28.
Other organizations that will be appearing at Williams Grove this year include the STARS late madels on April 17, and the ARDC midgets May 8, and the URC sprints on June 19. These three programs will also include the Grove's sprint cars.
The popular super sportsman cars will return on five occasions and the sportsman/modifieds are scheduled for March 15 and again for the RSCA- sanctioned weekend on October 17-18.
Other dates of interest for sprint car fans include the Early Bird Championship on April 3, the Mitch Smith Memorial, July 3, and the Jack Gunn Memorial Twin 20s August 21. Five Enduros will also be presented this year.
Williams Grove will be in action every Sunday afternoon through March before switching to Friday nights on April 3.
