Whitney takes reigns of SCA, Inc. sprint car for 2003.

Travis Whitney from Champlin, Minnesota has teamed with Sheboygan, Wisconsin's Scott Cowman and the SCA Inc. Racing Team for the 2003 season. "We are going to run primarily with the IRA, but not for points. We will be at Knoxville about once a month and will probably race a few World of Outlaw shows and we'll perhaps race the USAC show at Powercom Park in the spring," said Cowman.

Sponsorship has already been secured for the team as Cowman's longtime sponsor, Gibbsville Cheese will return as the primary sponsor in addition to new associate sponsors, TOWPOWER byReese, Mike's Construction, and Butler Auto Enterprises, LLC. Pit Stop Pizza, STS Collision center and Behling Racing Equipment will also be supporters of what promises to be a very strong team.

The team will be using Maxim Chassis, engines provided by Automotive Machine and will be racing on Goodyear Tires. Former sprint racer Randy Butler will function as team manager, and Ralph Schmidt will be the team's chief mechanic. Butler will also make a few starts in a team car at selected short track events throughout the summer.

Whitney and Cowman teamed up at the very end of the 2002 season and registered a ninth place finish with the Gumout Series at the Sunnyview Speedzone in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Whitney is a former IRA Rookie of the Year and a Wissota National Champion. Cowman has owned cars for many years for drivers such as Mike Reinke, Craig Dollansky and Randy Anderson. The team's first race of 2002 will be the IRA's opening weekend at Powercom Park in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin and the Dubuque Fairgrounds Speedway in Dubuque, Iowa.
