ADAMS LEADS O'REILLY USCS NATIONAL POINT STANDINGS
FAYETTEVILLE, GA - Kenny Adams of Malabar, FL leads the O'Reilly United Sprint Car Series National point standings after the first 15 events of the 2005 season. The "Malabar Missile" has turned in 2,204 points with two wins, 12 top five finishes, and 14 top ten finishes. Adams is looking for his second O'Reilly USCS National Championship to go with his 2000 trophy.
SpeedMart Young Guns, drivers under the age of 25, hold down the second through fifth positions in the O'Reilly USCS National points list.
Danny "The Hammer" Martin Jr. of Sarasota, FL is second to Adams with 2,024 points. The 19-year-old 2004 O'Reilly USCS National Championship Runner-Up has one win, five top five finishes, and ten top ten finishes this season.
The 2004 O'Reilly USCS Rookie of the Year, 17-year-old R.J. Johnson of Decatur, TN leads a log jam for the next three positions in the points chase. Johnson is in the third spot with 1,888 points with two top ten finishes.
Bryn Gohn of Malabar, FL sits in the fourth spot, just six points behind "The Decatur Raider", and leads the 2005 O'Reilly USCS Rookie of the Year point standings. The 19-year-old driver has five top ten finishes. Matt Tiffany of Daytona Beach, FL is fifth with 1,846 points, and the 16-year-old driver is second in the Rookie of the Year points with three top five finishes, and four top ten finishes.
The defending and four-time O'Reilly USCS National Champion Terry Gray of Bartlett, TN moved up two spots in the series national points, and is now up to sixth with 1,776 points. Gray was leading the national points when he was injured in a testing accident on May 24, and missed three races.
Gray has come back in the last two events with a top five finish, and two top ten finishes. For the season, the "Bartlett Bullet" has one win, nine top five finishes, and 12 top ten finishes.
Brice Wrenn of Lexington, SC is in the seventh spot with 1,616 points, but will miss at least the next two events recovering from a knee injury suffered in an accident at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL on June 3. This season, Wrenn has one win, and four top ten finishes.
Another pair of SpeedMart Young Guns occupies the eighth and ninth spots in the O'Reilly USCS National point standings. Ryan Myers of Eldorado, OH is eighth with 1,500 points. The 18-year-old has five top five finishes, seven top ten finishes, and two asphalt fast time awards in 11 starts.
Stephen Darvalics of Venice, FL is ninth with 1,118 points in nine starts, and 18-year-old driver is third in the Rookie of the Year point standings. J.J. Dutton of Tampa, FL rounds out the top ten of the O'Reilly USCS National point standings with 1,086 points in nine starts.
The next two O'Reilly USCS events will be this Saturday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL, and this Sunday night at Rome Speedway in Rome, GA.
