SIX DRIVERS SET FOR THE O'REILLY USCS 8TH ANNUAL AIR FLOW RESEARCH SUPER POWER DASH
FAYETTEVILLE, GA - Six O'Reilly United Sprint Car Series drivers are locked into the 8th Annual Air Flow Research Super Power Dash at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, FL on Saturday night, October 22. The event will feature ten cars racing for ten laps with the winner pocketing $5,000 in cash and prizes.
The Air Flow Research Super Power Dash will be a part of the O'Reilly USCS Florida State Championship Races that will be held at Volusia Speedway Park on October 21-22.
The six drivers that are locked into the Air Flow Research Super Power Dash are the top six drivers that have earned points in 43 Air Flow Research Power Dashes that have been held at each O'Reilly USCS event this season. The AFR Dashes have featured the top six finishers from the previous event in a six-lap race, with points awarded on a 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, and 5 point basis.
Kenny Adams of Malabar, FL leads the Air Flow Research Power Dash point standings heading into the October 22 VSP finale. The "Malabar Missile" has competed in 36 Air Flow Research Power Dashes, and has posted 16 wins. Adams, who is the O'Reilly USCS National point leader, is the all-time O'Reilly USCS career winner with 91 victories.
After winning the 2000 O'Reilly USCS National Championship, Adams is still trying to add an Air Flow Research Super Power Dash trophy to his collection.
The defending and four-time O'Reilly USCS National Champion Terry Gray of Bartlett, TN has three Air Flow Research Super Power Dash trophies on his mantle, including the last two. The "Bartlett Bullet" is second in the Air Flow Research Power Dash points with 34 starts and nine wins.
Danny Martin Jr. of Sarasota, FL goes into the Air Flow Research Super Power Dash third in the points with 31 starts and two Air Flow Research Power Dash wins. At 19-years-old, Martin, who is known as "The Hammer," leads the four drivers in the third through sixth spots in the Air Flow Research Power Dash points called the SpeedMart Young Guns.
Matt Tiffany of Daytona Beach, FL is fourth in the Air Flow Research Power Dash points. The 16-year-old rookie driver has come on strong during the second half of the 2005 season in Air Flow Research Power Dash competition. In 21 dashes, Tiffany has turned in six wins in recent competition that has earned him the nickname, "Mr. Dash."
The "Old Man" of the SpeedMart Young Guns, 20-year-old Bryn Gohn of Malabar, FL, is fifth in the Air Flow Research Power Dash points with one win this season. Gohn is the current O'Reilly USCS Robison Racing Products Rookie of the Year point leader.
The 2004 O'Reilly USCS Rookie of the Year, 18-year-old R.J. Johnson of Decatur, TN is sixth in the Air Flow Research Power Dash point standings. The "Decatur Raider" has competed in 12 Air Flow Research Power Dashes this season.
With Adams, Gray, Martin, Tiffany, Gohn and Johnson locked into the Air Flow Research Super Power Dash; the final four competitors will be determined in a special qualifying race on Friday night, October 21 at VSP.
If a driver can win the Air Flow Research Super Power Dash, the October 21 Florida State Championship Preliminary Race, and the October 22 Florida State Championship Race finale at VSP, it would total $10,000 in earnings for the weekend.
