USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour Invades South Georgia on April 23-24
FAYETTEVILLE, GA - The United Sprint Car Series Outlaw Thunder Tour will invade two South Georgia dirt tracks on April 23-24. The series will visit Swainsboro Raceway in Swainsboro, GA on April 23, and then travel to Oglethorpe Speedway Park in Savannah, GA on April 24.
USCS will be making its first visit ever to Swainsboro Raceway. The 1,300 pound, 700 horsepower winged outlaw sprint cars will be turning the fastest speeds ever recorded at the newly remodeled 4/10-mile clay oval.
The following night, the USCS cars and stars will return to Oglethorpe Speedway Park where Kenny Adams of Malabar, FL posted the win last season. Adams will be looking for his third straight USCS Outlaw Thunder win in 2004, after wins in Travelers Rest, SC on April 2 and Batesburg, SC on April 3.
"Flyin' Brian" Thomas of Auburn, GA is scheduled to return to OSP in an effort to get back the one that got away on the 1/2-mile clay oval in 2003. Thomas was leading the 2003 USCS race at OSP when he got tangled up with lapped traffic, and executed a spectacular end-over-end flip, traveling over 400 feet in the air.
Adams is involved in a tight point battle for the USCS National Championship with the defending and three-time USCS National Champion Terry Gray of Bartlett, TN. Gray leads Adams by just 12 points going into the South Georgia weekend.
With his two straight Outlaw Thunder dirt wins, Adams leads Curt Michael of Ocean View, DE in the USCS Outlaw Thunder Dirt points chase by just 14 points.
Along with Adams, Gray, Thomas and Michael, other top USCS stars expected for the South Georgia weekend are Johnny Bridges of Cherryville, NC, Bryce Wrenn of Lexington, SC, Red Stauffer of Winter Park, FL, Butch Pendergrass of Winston-Salem, NC, Chad Allum of Kannapolis, and Scott Young of Mooresville, NC.
USCS "Young Guns" will also ride into South Georgia ready to do battle. They include Danny Martin Jr. of Sarasota, FL, Tom Winegardner Jr. of Pierson, FL, and the top USCS Rookie of the Year candidate R.J. Johnson of Wesley Chapel, FL.
