O'Reilly USCS Announces its Newest Region For 2005
FAYETTEVILLE, GA - O'Reilly Auto Parts United Sprint Car Series officials announced their newest region today by releasing the 16-race Mid-South Thunder Tour schedule. The O'Reilly USCS Mid-South Tour will encompass dirt and asphalt tracks in Middle and Western Tennessee, Western Alabama, and Mississippi.
The O'Reilly Mid-South Thunder Tour will feature a $10,000 cash awards points fund, and a $25,000 cash and contingency program. All Mid-South Tour events will also carry O'Reilly USCS National points as a part of that 65-race schedule.
"The O'Reilly USCS Mid-South region is a hotbed for winged outlaw sprint car racing, and we've received a lot of interest from tracks, competitors and fans to form a region in this area," O'Reilly USCS Founder and President Pete Walton said. "When I founded the United Sprint Car Series in 1997, this area was the foundation for the series."
Three of the five former O'Reilly USCS National Champions have come from this part of country, including the defending and four-time National Champion Terry Gray of Bartlett, TN, Eddie Gallagher of Memphis, TN, and Marshall Skinner of West Memphis, AR.
The O'Reilly USCS Mid-South Tour begins with a triple-header "Volunteer Thunder" Memorial Day Holiday weekend. The first event will be on May 27 at Crossville's Raceway USA in Crossville, TN, and then moves to Garnertown Speedway in Jackson, TN on May 28, and concludes on May 29 at Clarksville Speedway in Clarksville, TN.
Walton said the opportunity is there to add even more events to the 2005 O'Reilly USCS Mid-South schedule in the coming weeks. For more information visit the O'Reilly USCS web site at www.uscsracing.com.
