O'REILLY USCS OUTLAW THUNDER TOUR BEGINS 2005 SEASON WITH DOUBLE RACING WEEKEND IN PENSACOLA, FL AND MOBILE, AL ON MARCH 18-19
FAYETTEVILLE, GA - The O'Reilly United Sprint Car Series Outlaw Thunder Tour will open its 2005 season with a double racing weekend on March 18 at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, FL, and on March 19 at Mobile International Speedway in Mobile, AL on March 19. Both events will carry points for the O'Reilly USCS National and Asphalt Thunder Tours.
Five Flags Speedway will host a practice session for the O'Reilly USCS winged outlaw sprint cars on Thursday, March 17 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the high-banked half-mile paved oval. Five Flags Speedway has undergone some refurbishing after hurricane damage forced cancellation of the 2004 O'Reilly USCS Asphalt Thunder event.
Mobile International Speedway has also undergone repairs and improvements from hurricane damage, that includes the repaving of the high-banked half-mile paved surface and new lighting. With the new and smoother racing surface for the 41-year-old facility, an all-time new track record is probable.
Kenny Adams of Malabar, FL is the current all-time MIS track record holder with a time of 15.07 seconds for an average speed of 119.443 miles per hour set on March 22, 2003.
Adams will be joined at Pensacola and Mobile by the Defending and four-time O'Reilly USCS National Champion and defending O'Reilly USCS Asphalt Thunder Champion Terry Gray of Bartlett, TN. Other top entrants include Will Ragsdale of Easley, SC, Danny Martin Jr. of Sarasota, FL, 2004 O'Reilly USCS Rookie of the Year R.J. Johnson of Decatur, TN, and Brice Wrenn of Lexington, SC, who will be making his O'Reilly USCS Asphalt Thunder debut.
Along with the O'Reilly USCS winged outlaw sprint cars, the Five Flags Speedway Spectator, Bomber, and Vintage Divisions will also be in action.
