USCS returns to asphalt, points 2003-04-28

FAYETTEVILLE, GA - The United Sprint Car Series returns to the asphalt after four straight Outlaw Thunder Dirt events. The USCS Asphalt Thunder Tour resumes this Friday night at Hickory Motor Speedway in Hickory, NC, and then moves to the Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, VA on Saturday night.

The following weekend, the USCS Asphalt Thunder Tour visits Senoia Speedway in Senoia, GA on May 8.

Doug Berryman of Mansfield, OH leads the USCS Asphalt Thunder Tour point standings after winning the opening round on May 27 at Lanier National Speedway in Braselton, GA. The defending and three-time USCS National Champion Terry Gray of Bartlett, TN is second in Asphalt Thunder points, followed by Ted Williams of Atlanta, GA.

Brad Davis of Rutherfordton, NC is fourth in asphalt points, followed by Jim Raptis of Marietta, GA, Joey Aguilar of Tampa, FL, Joe Rebman of Mansfield, OH, Frank Neill of Vickery, OH, top USCS asphalt rookie Troy DeCaire of Tampa, FL, and Jimmy Taylor of Green Pond, SC.

The defending USCS Asphalt Thunder Champion Kenny Adams of Malabar, FL is 21st in Asphalt Thunder points after one race. Adams crashed on the opening lap of the Braselton, GA event.

The Hickory, NC and Radford, VA events will also carry USCS Sunbelt Tour points. The Sunbelt Tour points take in a mix of both asphalt and dirt events on the 2004 USCS schedule. Adams trails Gray in the USCS Sunbelt Tour points by 32 points. Adams has three wins this season, and Gray has one victory.
