Adams Takes USCS Sunbelt Tour Championship By Six Points Over Terry Gray

FAYETTEVILLE, GA - Kenny Adams of Malabar, FL has won the United Sprint Car Series Sunbelt Tour Championship by just six points over Terry Gray of Bartlett, TN. The USCS Sunbelt Tour is a 23-race series on both dirt and asphalt tracks in the Carolinas, Virginia, Georgia, East Tennessee, and East Alabama.

The "Malabar Missile" posted 10 wins, and 18 top five finishes on his way to the Sunbelt title. Gray turned in seven wins, and 20 top five finishes in 22 starts. Danny "The Hammer" Martin Jr. of Sarasota, FL took the third spot in USCS Sunbelt Tour points with four wins, 14 top five finishes, and 17 top ten finishes in 22 starts.

Brice Wrenn of Lexington, SC ran only the 17 dirt show on the USCS Sunbelt Tour, but still finished fourth in the points standings with six top five finishes, and 13 top ten finishes.

Chad Allum of Kannapolis, NC showed his versatility by rounding out the top five, the highest ranking driver that ran both dirt and asphalt with the same race car; a machine he built himself. Allum had two top five finishes, and 10 top ten finishes in 21 starts.

R.J. Johnson of Decatur, TN was the USCS Sunbelt Tour Rookie of the Year with a sixth-place finish in the points chase. Tom Winegardner Jr. of Pierson, FL was seventh, followed by Butch Pendergrass of Winston-Salem, NC, Bronzie Lawson of Southern Pines, NC, and Jim Raptis of Marietta, GA in eighth through tenth respectively. Raptis had one Sunbelt Tour win.
