Minersville, PA (July 27) -The United Racing Club Sprint Cars visit Big Diamond Raceway this Friday night, August 4, as part of their Carquest Pennsylvania State Series. The United Racing Club Sprints will share the spotlight NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Modifieds while the NASCAR Accel Roadrunners will complete the three-division card. The United Racing Club is in the midst of one of their most successful racing seasons in the storied, 53-year history, averaging 38 sprint cars per show this year with 14 of 30 races scheduled for 2000 in the books. Current URC point leader Bill Brian, Jr. of Ephrata, PA will lead the winged warriors to Big Diamond after a pair of events this weekend in Canada. Going into the Canadian events URC boasted 11 different winners in 14 events including first time winners Donnie Ennis, Hartley, DE; Trevor Lewis of Upper Black Eddy, PA; Todd Rittenhouse, Norristown, PA; and George Suprick, Clarks Summit, PA. Brian has two wins and Sean Michael, who has now moved into the Central Pennsylvania #1 Sprint ride of John Zemaitis, recorded three 2000 URC wins before the move. Other single feature winners this season include Dave McGough of Sassamansville, PA, Becca Anderson, Houston, DE: Brian Seidel of Allentown, PA; Curt Michael of Ocean View, DE and Greg Coverdale, Milford, DE.. Bill Brian, Jr. leads the URC Bar's Leaks Point Standings as of July 27 with 1362 followed by Brian Seidel with 1262, George Suprick with 1216, Scott Purcell with 1215, Danny Massey of Mt. Laurel, NJ with 1055, Dave McGough with 1054, Chris Coyle of Wilmington, DE with 1035, Kramer Williamson of Palmyra, PA with 1030 and Greg Coverdale with 930. The Big Diamond event is also part of the Carquest URC PA Series which shows Seidel leading the way with 355 points followed by Brian (333), Massey (332), McGough (233) and Purcell (220). But on top of all the point implications making this a very important URC event, the Big Diamond races is one of only three URC Syracuse Qualifiers for the URC/ESS Shoot Out on the Mile, at the New York State Fairgrounds on October 7. The Syracuse event will be contested over a 20-mile distance and pay $5000 to win. The NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Modifieds will also hold up their end of the shared headline for the event.
