HANOVER, PA, 6/18/04 -- Neal Amspacher shined brightly in a night full of many downs for a full field of sprint cars, Friday night at Trail-Way Speedway. Amspacher led a total of 19 laps in a shortened race due to time restraints. Mike Bittinger who won a sprint car feature earlier in the 2004 season, battled with Amspacher in the final laps of the race, coming nose to tail around the fourth turn with one to go. Coming around the final two turns of the last lap, Bittinger and Amspacher raced side by side coming to the checkered flag. Amspacher came across the line no more than a quarter of a car length in front of Bittinger.

'We had a good setup. We could drive this thing any way we wanted to," exclaimed an excited Amspacher in victory lane. Amspacher's car dominated the entire night by also taking one of the previous heat wins.

Jeff Young, a regular at Trail-Way Speedway during the 2003 season came back to Trail-Way and silently dominated in the top three. Young was a bit too much for Dale Hammaker who came across the line fourth followed by the 2003 track champion Brad McClelland in fifth.

Steve Clabaugh, Danny Dietrich, Ken Berwager, Jon Keller and Billy Dietrich completed the top ten.

Heat winners for the 34 sprint cars in attendance were won by Young, Bittinger and Amspacher. Judd Shepard was the consolation winner.

Westminster, Maryland's Mark Shorb stole the thundercar feature win in the 20-lap feature race for the second time in the 2004 season. In a tough race, Shorb raced side by side with second place runner Tommy Slusser. Slusser was good off the bottom of the turns but Shorb maintained the lead running on the top of the track.

"Tommy's tough! I couldn't keep it on the bottom so I had to keep it on the top," explained Shorb. Slusser completed the night second followed by Jerry Bingaman in third, Jim Martz in fourth and Ron Spencer completing the top five.

Heat winners were Shorb and Mike Gladfelter.

Robert Stough came into tonight's race with a win already in the 2004 season. Stough maintained excellence in the street stock division and took his second win. Lapped traffic became a factor during the last lap, but Stough was able to maintain a safe distance between himself and second place runner Ted Forsythe.

Chris Holston, the points leader coming into tonight's racing events crossed the line third followed by Randy May in fourth and Danny Beard completing the top five.

Heat winners for the 31 street stocks were won by Chris Holston, Robert Stough and Ted Forsythe. The consolation winner was Todd Miller.
