TULSA, Okla. (April 13, 2006) -- History in the making is on tap for the weekend, as the all-new American Sprint Car Series Mid-South Region steps front stage and center this Friday and Saturday with its opening pair of events in the state of Mississippi with Jackson's Swinging Bridge Raceway on Friday night and Columbus' Magnolia Motor Speedway on Saturday night.

Swinging Bridge Raceway (Jackson, MS) is located just south of Jackson, MS, off I-55 Exit 85 (Byram Exit), then 0.7 mile east on Siwell Road to Old Byram Road, then north 0.4 mile. Track phone: 601-373-0076 or 601-720-7323.

Friday's Swinging Bridge Raceway victor will etch his name into the ASCS record books as the winner of the first ever ASCS Mid-South Region feature event.
The ASCS has appeared at Swinging Bridge Raceway in the past, with the O'Reilly ASCS National Tour last competing at the then-Jackson Motor Speedway on April 19, 1997, with Garry Lee Maier taking the win.
Saturday's card at Magnolia Motor Speedway will be the first Sprint Car event in track history.
Both events will be held in conjunction with the Southern United Professional Racing (SUPR) sprint car series. Friday's card at Swinging Bridge Raceway offers the standard ASCS Mid-South winner's share of $1,500, with Saturday's event at Magnolia Motor Speedway offering $2,000 to win.
National Tour aces Darren Stewart and Jan Howard are among those expected to take on Mid-South Region championship hopefuls including A.G. Rains, Dale Howard, Josh Howard and Bryce Vowan among others.

In its 15th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing in the United States, the American Sprint Car Series will present approximately 180 nights of racing in 2006 including the National Tour and its Regional Tours (Gulf South, Mid-South, Midwest, Northern Plains, Patriot Sprint Group, Rocky Mountain, Sooner, Southern and Sprints on Dirt).
