FARMINGTON, Mo. -- (June 23, 2001) For the first time this season Terry Babb of Decatur, Ill. picked up the checkered flag in the sprint car feature at the St. Francois County Raceway. Babb was able to hold off the charge of Tommy Worley Jr. to pick up the big win. Ronnie Standridge finished third followed by Timmy Montgomery, Rod Crabdree, Larry Dudley, Bryan Matthews, Jay Landolt, Jason Hunt and Greg Burns.
Brett Samonds won the "B^Ô main with Danny Long second and Tubby Black third. Standridge won the first heat with Josh Revelle second and Hunt third. Timmy Montgomery won the second heat with Babb second and Joey Montgomery third. Keith Burch won the third heat with Crabdree second and Worley Jr. third. Crabdree was the winner of the trophy dash with Babb second.
Chuck Adams of Park Hills picked up the checkered flag in the Hobby Stock feature. Tony Blue finished in second place with Randy Forster third, Kenny Harris fourth and Karl Francis fifth. They were followed by Doug Savage, Charlie Savage, Mickey Mosier, Billy Mayberry and Danny Resinger. Kasey Nations won the first heat race with Mosier second and Chris Boyd third. Brad Mashek won the second heat with Doug Savage second and Jim Bell third. Adams won the third heat with Blue second and Forster third. Adams also won the dash to complete his triple crown night with Blue second and Mashek third.
In the Modified class, Brent Thompson of Farmington picked up yet another feature win (and triple crown). "He's just plain good,^Ô said Randy Forster about Thompson after the races. "Right now he's the man.^Ô
Forster should know because he spent most of this night trying to catch Thompson's #18 modified. In the feature Forster was second with Ryan Gegg third, Matt Zimmerly fourth and Adam Parmley fifth. They were followed by Tony Palmer, Kevin Gegg, Butch Lyons, Pete Koenig, Jim Brayton Sr. and John Schuerman.
Schuerman won the first heat with Ryan Gegg second and Parmley third. Forster won the second heat with Zimmerly second and Bob Waterhouse third. Thompson won the third heat with Billy Smith second and Mike Crader third. Thompson won the dash with Forster second and Zimmerly third.
The Super Stock Karts from the Doe Run Raceway were also at the track Saturday night and Kasey Burch of Farmington came away as the big winner. In the feature Burch picked up the checkered flag with Jimmy Bridgeman second, Joey Boyd third, Tommy Boyd fourth, Matt Dotson fifth, Michael Harp sixth and Kyle Jarrett was seventh.
In the heat race, Burch was the winner with Bridgeman second and Dotson third. Bridgeman won the trophy dash with Burch second and Dotson third. Racing action will continue at the St. Francois County Raceway this Saturday night with Sam Scism Ford Night. Gates open at 4 p.m. with racing at 7:30.
