DAGGETT OUTDUELS FAST AT HARTFORD AS NORMAN TAKES ASCS SPRINTS ON DIRT TITLE

T.J. Buffenbarger, HARTFORD, Mich. (September 8, 2007) -- Dustin Daggett won Saturday night's Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by Victor Reinz feature Saturday at the Hartford Speedway Park in Hartford, Michigan. Daggett and Gary Fast staged a race for the ages, trading the lead over the finale four laps of the event before Daggett pulled away at the finish.

"Gary (Fast) is one of the guys you can really trust to run with. We really raced hard, and that was a lot of fun," said Daggett in victory lane. "If I would not have had the last caution I don't I could have caught Gary."

Fast held off Daggett blazing through lapped traffic until two late race cautions erased Fast's advantage. Then during the closing laps Fast and Daggett raced side by side around Hartford's half mile oval trading the top spot back and fourth before Daggett took command for good coming down for the white flag. Fast, Norman, Mann, and Joe Bares rounded out the top five.

With a third place finish Tim Norman clinched his third career ASCS Sprints on Dirt point championship. After the race Norman was complimentary about his competition for the championship.

"Brett (Mann) and I have raced together for a long time. Some people might be surprised how well we get along," said Norman. "I want to thank my car owner Joe Gaerte, Red Line Oil, and everyone that helps on the car."

Ben Rutan, Mann, and Dagget won heat race events. During the third heat race Tank Brackenberry pounded the turn two wall and took nasty flip. Brackenberry was uninjured.
