Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP Release 2009 Schedule
TULSA, Okla. (January 24, 2009) - The Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP schedule is set for the series' 30th season of competition. Twenty-two point paying races are on the calendar with three special non-point races making up the 25 event schedule that swings through Michigan and Ohio as well as Canada.
The season starts at same venue that featured the first ASCS Sprints on Dirt event in 1980, Crystal Motor Speedway. May 2nd is the first of three visits to Crystal during the 2009 season with additional dates on July 18th for the Mid-Season Championship and September 5th to celebrate Labor Day weekend. Last season Crystal held its 100th ASCS Sprints on Dirt sanctioned event at the 3/8-mile oval.
I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Michigan will hold four ASCS SOD events in 2009 including the second event of the 2009 season on May 9th. In addition to holding the second event of the season the ASCS Sprints on Dirt will appear on June 6th, June 27th, and August 1st.
One of the new venues on the 2009 campaign is Waynesfield Motorsports Park in Waynesfield, Ohio. The ASCS Sprints on Dirt make their first appearance at Waynesfield on Saturday May 23rd as part of a three race Ohio swing during Memorial Day Weekend. Other dates during the Ohio invasion include Friday May 22nd at Limaland Motorsports Park in Lima, Ohio and Sunday May 24th at the legendary Eldora Speedway in New Weston, Ohio. All three are co-sanctioned with the National Racing Alliance.
Winston Speedway will give fans two opportunities to see the ASCS Sprints on Dirt at the revitalized oval in Rothbury, Michigan on Friday June 19th and Friday September 4th. On the opposite side of the state, Ownedale Speedway in Owendale, Michigan features two ASCS Sprints on Dirt events Saturday July 11th and Saturday August 19th.
Canadian fans will get a full weekend of ASCS SOD action Friday and Saturday June 12th -13th at Ohsweken Speedway in Ohsweken, Ontario and the South Buxton Raceway near Merlin, Ontario. ASCS Sprints on Dirt teams will take part in special non-point events at Ohsweken July 3rd for the Summer Nationals and September 18th and 19th for the Arrow Express Canadian Sprint Car Nationals.
The Mt. Pleasant Speedway returns to the schedule after a three season absence on June 26th, preceding the race on the 27th at I-96 Speedway. Other tracks with single day events include the popular Ionia Fairgrounds Speedway during the Ionia Free Fair on July 17th, Cherry Speedway in Fife Lake, Michigan July 24th, Merritt Speedway in Merritt, Michigan August 15th, Butler Motor Speedway in Quincy, Michigan August 8th, and Hartford Motor Speedway in Hartford, Michigan for the King of Michigan event on September 11th.
The American Sprint Car Series, in its 18th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing events, brings the best of Sprint Car racing to approximately 100 different tracks throughout 30 states and Canada. Anchored by the Lucas Oil ASCS Sprint Car Dirt Series presented by K&N Filters, ASCS also consists of a dozen different Regions throughout the nation.
