2007 ASCS Sprints on Dirt Schedule Released

TULSA, Okla. (January 23, 2007) -- The latest American Sprint Car Series regional schedule was released today, as the 2007 slate for the Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by Victor Reinz is set.

The long-standing Michigan-based series, embarking upon its 28th consecutive year of racing action and second under the ASCS banner, currently has 19 point events scheduled at ten different tracks throughout Michigan and Canada.

With Ken Mackey reigning as defending ASCS Sprints on Dirt champion, the series kicks off the 2007 campaign at Michigan's Crystal Motor Speedway on May 5. It marks the first of three Crystal stops for the series, with return engagements on July 21 and September 1.

Two other tracks will host three ASCS Sprints on Dirt events in 2007 including Merritt Speedway (June 9, July 28 and August 11) and Hartford Speedway Park (May 11, June 29 and September 8). The September 8 stop at Hartford is the series season championship finale.

Other Michigan stops for the ASCS Sprints on Dirt in 2007 include I-96 Speedway (Lake Odessa), Cherry Speedway (Fife Lake), Thunderbird Race Park (Muskegon), Owendale Speedway and Winston Motor Speedway (Rothbury).

A pair of tracks in Ontario, Canada, will also host the series in 2007, with a pair of stops slated for South Buxton Raceway and one points-paying event at Ohsweken Speedway. The series will also participate in Ohsweken Speedway's Canadian Sprint Car Nationals. The Canadian Nationals, which awards no series points, takes place a week after the series season championship event.

Along with each of the other eleven ASCS Regions and the ASCS National Tour, two representatives from the Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by Victor Reinz will be invited to compete in the ASCS/Wesmar Racing Engines Challenge at Devil's Bowl Speedway's Winter Nationals in Mesquite, TX, on October 13. The winner of that event will walk away with a new Wesmar Engine.
