ASCS Sprints on Dirt Short Mid-Season Championship Double This Weekend
TULSA, Okla. (July 15, 2008) -- The beat goes on for the Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by Victor Reinz with this weekend's Mid-Season Championship pair of events in Michigan.
On Friday night, the series invades the Ionia Fairgrounds Speedway for the first time since 1982 as part of the Ionia Free Fair. Then on Saturday night, the series makes the second of three scheduled stops at Crystal Motor Speedway.
Saturday's Crystal card is also the Fourth Round of the ASCS Sprints on Dirt MAHLE Clevite Short Track Challenge.
Fresh off his first series win of the season this past weekend, Brett Mann of Goshen, IN, leads the series into this weekend's Mid-Season Championship double with a 28-point advantage over Ben Rutan of Jerome, MI.
Belleville, Michigan's Dain Naida is 70 markers off the lead pace in third, with three-time series champion Tim Norman of Warsaw, IN, and Ryan Grubaugh of St. Johns, MI, rounding out the current top five in points.
The balance of the current top ten includes Joe Bares (Traverse City, MI), Gregg Dalman (Grand Ledge, MI), Gary Fast (Kalkaska, MI), Dustin Daggett (Portland, MI) and Louie Carufel (Port Huron, MI).
Friday's Ionia action fires off at 7:00 p.m, with Saturday's Crystal card going green at 7:30 p.m.

In its 29th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing, the Engine Pro ASCS Sprints On Dirt presented by Victor Reinz will sanction 26 nights of action at 14 different tracks throughout Michigan, Ohio and Ontario.
The ASCS Sprints on Dirt MAHLE Clevite Short Track Challenge is comprised of eight series events on tracks of 3/8-mile or less.
The nation's most prominent Sprint Car sanctioning body with a dozen different Regions throughout the United States in addition to the O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series, the American Sprint Car Series' (ASCS) 17th year of activity will include approximately 250 nights of racing at more than 100 different race tracks throughout 28 different states and Canada.
